What size is a Discord server icon?

Discord recommends a square image of at least 512 × 512 pixels and displays it in a rounded frame. Our icons are designed as 512 × 512 squares with the text centered, so they stay sharp and nothing important is cropped.

Can my server icon be animated?

Yes. Animated designs are delivered as GIFs together with a static PNG. Animated server icons are a server boost perk, so upload the PNG until your server unlocks animation.

How do I change my server icon?

  • Open your server menu and choose Server Settings.
  • On the server overview or profile page, select the icon and upload your new file.
  • Save changes. The new icon appears for every member right away.
